Prayer Shawl Ministry

Prayerful Needlers

The Prayer Shawl Ministry of Chandler's Grove GMC (Prayerful Needlers) vision is to share God’s love and promote physical and emotional healing. What does a Prayer Shaw do? Shawls wrap, enfold, comfort, cover, give solace, mother, hug, shelter and warm.  They can be used for comfort before undergoing medical procedures, as a comfort in times of great stress, during times of bereavement, during an illness and recovery. There are multiple possibilities to be a blessing to someone in need of a touch of the hand of God.

What sets a prayer shawl apart from other craft projects is that the shawl is accompanied by the power of prayer.  When the shawls are finished they are placed on the altar for a Service of Blessing where they are prayed over and blessed before being placed in a chest in the Narthex and made available for anyone in the church to take and bless or witness to others. There are cards that have a prayer or verse that you may select to give with the shawls.

In addition to prayer shawls, the Prayerful Needlers also support the Stanly County Pregnancy Center, Victory Junction,  and the Shoebox Ministry (OCC) with crocheted and knitted items.

If you would like to learn to knit, crochet or loom and join this ministry, we would love to teach you.
